This image of Spitzkoppe (The Matterhorn of Africa) was captured in Infrared and then converted using some slight sepia toning. This was captured from the well known Rock Bridge of Spitzkoppe from a trip there in 2011.
This landscape offers the most fantastic contrasts and textures for a photographer to play with.
Spitzkoppe is a large granite outcrop said to be over 700 million years old and stands out dramatically from the surrounding flat plains of the Namib Desert. Spitzkoppe is situated halfway between Usakos and Swakopmund and accommodation there is limited to camping sites and a few bungalows which are managed by the local community.
The Rock Bridge is a popular attraction at Spitzkoppe, Near sunset or sunrise there is a myriad of contrasts and textures for a photographer to play with.
